Whether any or these ideas or some of these ideas are ever implemented almost doesn’t matter.

These ideas inform the thinking of those who are regulating NOW.  And the experiments they are conducting in the ant farm they preside over.

Exhibit A - 14th St will be closed to all private vehicles starting in a June.  Only buses, delivery trucks and vehicles picking up and dropping off.  The L train will still be running normally most of the time.  During the slowdown, nights and weekends, trains will be running every 20 minutes.

SO WHY IS 14TH STREET CLOSED 24/7?

Michael Moss, Head of the Rudin Center NYU, Meera Joshi’s new boss, was quoted in The NY Times yesterday as saying that the big winners of the L train slowdown are Uber and Lyft.

DAS IST DA UBER PLAN!  ALLES KLAR?

Correction - DOT not sure what hours 14th Street (between 3rd and 9th Aves) will be closed to private through traffic.

The original plan was 5am to 10pm.  17 hours a day.  Many more hours per day than the slowdown.
