"Three years later, he borrowed $335,000 to buy a New York City taxi medallion, which gave him the right to operate his own cab." from the times this morning, there's one big fallacy with this comment, He didn't buy the right to operate his own cab , he bought the exclusive right to use street hail , which is vastly different from buying the right to his own cab. That means no one else can use street hail which means that anyone needing a car right away on demand must use a medallion taxi. Anyone else using this right needs to face fines that would adequately force them to stop. An ehail is a street hail no matter what people tell you, prearranged or not.
