ALBANY CALL-IN DAYS
Albany's regular session ends around June 19th this year. But the work continues and Senators and Assembly Members will be watching out for issues. They need to keep hearing from drivers every single day in June! Join us in Abalny on June 11th and make the calls! If you need to look up your State Senator and Assembly member click this link and enter your address. We can also help you if you call 718-706-9892 or email us at media@nytwa.org.
Here's what you can talk about when you call:
Talk about your last shift, how much you made for yourself, how much for the State, and how many hours worked
Tell them about your housing situation and family needs
The surcharge will cost drivers $15,000 in income for the year
Yellow & green cabs already pay 50 cents for MTA; close to $1 Billion since 2009!
90% of yellow trips are in the zone
Most of our trips are short, which means on a $10 ride, drivers lose 30% in taxes to the MTA!
Yellow cabs did not cause the congestion. There is record low number on the streets!
We will not get a raise for our own income in years.
RESPONSES TO OWNER-DRIVER DEBT DEMANDS
City Comptroller Scott Stringer called for the city to find a way to forgive the loans!
Assembly and Senate plan to hold hearings! We said call in the state officials who set up the auction at high prices then went to work for Uber and Lyft!
City Council Transportation Committee Chair Ydanis Rodriguez called for $2.50 to be removed. We want a resolution from the whole Council to the State!
Council Speaker Corey Johnson is announcing bills and the Taskforce on Medallion Debt. Make it permanent!
State Attorney General Leticia James and Mayor DeBlasio announced investigations. We said they also need to investigate the government officials who failed us!
