Things are positive, business has held even thru the fiasco with the rate increase , which portends possible better times ahead
Owner drivers are so welcome , they are the life or death of the industry.
Lease drivers are appreciated, they can do just as good as owners.
Cabs are a roller coaster, i believe were on our way up.
We got the ball!
;D
cab trunks in the up open position and drivers out of cab leaning on fender, passengers come out of hotels looking for a fast ride to the airport they'll decide on you rather than Uber
Smart move!
Uber/Lyft both cheaper right now, taxis are almost empty , instant gratification, uber lowers it price by algorithm that immediately take fares away from yellows, our competition is a computer
Picked-up a young man in Williamsburg last Saturday at 5:30a.m., took him to the city. He was so happy the fare was only $35.00 that he asked me if he could take a picture of the meter to send it to all his friends. Turns out Uber was charging $60.00 to take him home. He told me, I'm telling all my friends to ride yellow from now on.
for the last few days Uber has been as much as 33% more than taxis for the same ride
??? ??? ??? ???
Bet the Drivers ARE Still Complaining.........
streets are looking smart for cabs, prices have a 25-40% spread on average between cabs and UBER , for about a week , even on Sunday morning , if this holds its what we want . people will get fed up with paying so much just for a Uber ride
I met a taxi driver yesterday who just started driving 1 week ago. I wished him luck.
great , input is really needed by those who are knowledgeable out here, theres a momentum recently in cabs favor , lets see if we can get a touchdown!!!
taxi learned ones should talk talk talk to street people , people hailing cabs, luggage help etc, I looked up fifth ave and tried to picture it without yellow, i dont think its ever going to happen , at this moment and it changes quickly , cabs are more competitive with Uber than they have been for many years , bc Uber is more expensive, its all about the cost of the ride
uber/lyft currently 20% higher local in Manhattan Saturday morning , Uber ruled this period bc of their ability to lower prices, these prices are higher ,
It sounds like they are doomed! If they don't raise the prices they will die. If they do raise the prices they will lose a lost of business and be forced to get rid of many drivers.
thats what i hope and thats the game their trying to avoid
looking good out there this afternoon
Im going to take a big leap right now and say at this time cabs have a higher occupancy rate than black cars and thats a big big change from a year ago , But how to get the cabs rolling and making money , the problem is the money for cabs have not gotten noticeable better , because there are just too many cars and that means too many Ubers .
We need the rates on the doors
I met a 20 year old former Uber driver who now drives a yellow taxi cab. He likes driving yellow, picks up more people, the trips are a longer and makes more money. The only thing he misses about Uber, listing to loud music with his passengers.
I always had music on in the taxi I drove. Very few people ask to turn it off. It's a good tool for tips!
yea sometimes , but it has to rock and roll no matter what !!!!
I think im noticing a rush hour , hard to believe with some many people working from home, and !!!! i think there are more people in cabs than ubers at times , I HAVENT SEEN THAT IN YEARS
App hailing for curb has picked up but drivers are still unskilled , by not as much as old days , We need to keep up standard , you cant expect a passenger to do an App hail then have difficulties with the app . and that's on Curb and Arro
Business is slow, driver income is down, My impression there are too many FHV's. Ubers are also slow. There must be a decrease in the number of Black cars so yellows can eat
May and June are usually very busy months....Keep us informed
no, i go back a long way and i know you do to Abe, but my recollections were there were no slow times like these. These appear more to be like droughts. Black car fare prices compared to yellow are about 10-20 percent higher sometimes 1/3 higher , its not enough, its needs to go up more to drive out more black cars and increase fare numbers for the rest that's left. i don't know how to get rid of black cars but that's what needs to be done
taxi ehailing is up but drivers are clumsy at it
The good news is the pubic wants it!
right now its the best ive seen in years , but remember it only at this moment , it changes, but nonetheless i haven't seen it this good in a long time
That's Good News!
I met a 22 year old yellow taxi driver, started this January. His father started driving yellow in 1996.
were not doing bad , cabs seem to be climbing back inch by inch , fares are there people are looking for taxis
:o :o :o :o :o
The ACTUAL 20 % Office Vacancy Rate WORRIES Me........
#StayAtHomersWillKILLNYC
maybe will bounced back with regular people , Friday morning rush hour was a dud . but busy times are changing
MONDAYS ARE NOT DEAD
Yesterday I noticed a large number of persons exiting the movie theatres for the first time in a long time. there were no cabs and everyone looking on their phones for a ride
That don't sound good!
it wasn't but it shows that taxis have been abused and now theres not enough
Everyone is going to see the movie Oppenheimer.
5th ave sea of yellow, almost like in the old movies, not quite yet but getting there,
This is good news!
