Public Hearings have been scheduled on Congestion Pricing. The first hearing is Thurs, August 25, 5 - 8 p.m. The hearings begin on Aug 25 and conclude on Weds, Aug 31.

points for yellow to be exempt after the great depression Mayor Laqardia created the medallion, for the same purpose you are having a hearing now, congestion. Taxi medallions were given the exclusive right to cruise capping the number of cars. 

Uber/ Lyft didn't pay for the right to cruise, if they wanted the right to cruise they should have bought medallions. By avoiding buying the medallion they avoided the cost, NYC permitted vast numbers of app cars without charging them for the privilege to cruise.  There are approximately 13000 medallion cars with the right to cruise and by utilizing there service you could greatly decrease the number of app cars , Yellow cabs can service with a street hail or an app service , you don't need the 100000 app only cars.





Some point for cabs
•   There's a strong branding between New York City and yellow cabs that helps bring tourists in.
•   taxis have a higher utilization advantage as well. Taxis can transport more passengers per vehicle compared to app vehicles. App vehicles need to travel to the next fare. Taxis can immediately pick up a fare also
•   Passengers rely on taxis for a reliable price




•   TLC demands taxis have a retirement age, that's upwards of $30000 per car. It does not require apps to do the same That's a huge financial disadvantage for cabs. Adding the surcharge for yellow will be devastating. 
•   Taxis are being subjected to more less price harassment. Taxi fares are fixed due to city rules.  When the city is slow uber lyft apps undercut taxi fares by going lower. When the city is busy app cars raise their rates making more dollars than taxis. Taxis are unable to compete , pricing is everything instead, passengers choose yellow only when uber is expensive and choose uber when they are cheaper
•   There needs to be an advantage somewhere for taxis providing this price accommodation. Eliminating the congestion fee for taxis is one way of achieving this
•   If passenger want an app car, Uber or Lyft ,  then the price should be significantly higher for premium transport  You can enable a higher priced premium app service,  with a much small number of cars, Why do you need so many black cars when you have taxis. It's redundant
•   Let the tourists know they can leave their car behind and go everywhere in the city by taxi at reasonable price.
•   



•   The very reason you're having these hearing is the very reason Fiorello LaGuardia created the medallion system, congestion. and why you needed it again is because you let in huge number of app cars who didn't even pay to cruise. We seem to have forgotten a lesson from 90 years ago. We are going full circle sadly to say after so much damage was done. 
•   Eliminating the congestion surcharge would help provide the support taxis need to maintain a viable taxi industry. Surcharging the industry by hamstringing their finances would not help.

Causing taxis to lose passengers by adding a surcharge will cause cabs to be at a big disadvantage

With all the cabs in storage , why is anyone worried that jobs will be lost ,  App drivers and taxi drivers have identical jobs , one can change to the other , so if app drivers are disadvantaged in any way , renting or buying a medallion is an option

Let's not delude ourselves anyone that's in favor of charging both taxis and Uber/Lyft are in favor of app cars.
Only those in favor of charging fhv and not charging taxis are in favor for taxis , there is no middle ground here

I beleive the city now beleives that bringing yellow cab back is a parallel requirement for bringing the city back from the pandemic downturn
