Yes they are giving and must continue until owners earn enough to cover costs for a new car

Thank you for your responses.

I thought the extension was only for 1 year? What is the maximum amount of time the TLC will give an owner?

I got one year. Asked for another year and got it. The letter said this is your last year don't ask again. I got 9 years with the two extensions.

If they don’t give you as many extensions as you want threaten to put medallion in storage
A Uber cars have no retirement limits , why should medallions
B if they force you to buy a car and make less profit , or raise drivers lease rates making them work longer hours for the same  pay  ,  then you’ll put the medallion in storage , and they’ll be less cabs in the street

I think it is obvious the TLC doesn't care how many medallions are in storage or they would have done away with the retirement rule altogether, at least temporarily.

My friend put his tin in storage. The TLC told him via email it may take time to process his request due to the large amount of storage requests. With the large amount of storage requests and foreclosures, bankruptcy how long before the yellows go the way of the greens? We are going down. Someone somewhere have a lifeline?

I think you must be having a bad day, my opinion we’re on the way up , were going down a long time but there are positive signs,  one , a rate increase and two,  finally getting into ehails
ALSO , if TLC can’t , won’t  , put the medallion in storage , what they just suspend you ?id  Like to see that letter

I spoke to someone at the TLC who informed me that it could take up to 30 days to process the request.
